APAF has recently added Difference Gel Electrophoresis (DIGE) to our available proteomics services. DIGE allows researchers to focus only on proteins of relevance whilst simultaneously removing gel to gel variation by the incorporation of an internal standard for every gel spot.

Education and Training

APAF is a resource for technology training in proteomics. APAF currently runs a 2D-Gel Electrophoresis course for the industry and the research community as part of its role as a Major National Research Facility. The Advanced Training Program has been running for 7 years now and courses are running at full capacity. Participants for the course have come from interstate, New Zealand and Asia-pacific. The next 2D-Gel Electrophoresis course is scheduled for March, 2007 at APAF Macquarie.

APAF also runs mass spectrometry courses, at the Bioanalytical Mass Spectrometry Facility at the University of New South Wales, as well as DIGE courses and protein array courses, at the Biomedical node at the University of Sydney.
